Development operators and consultants

Professionals who establish a working relationship with VIS based on the remuneration policies of the NGO.

Development operators are included in VIS in loco structure for long term, generally at least for two years. The profiles that we seek most are management and coordination such as in loco Country Representative and Programme Manager and Administrator.

The outgoing operators are required to share the vision and mission of VIS, the capability to work as a team with the Salesian communities, local staff, and other VIS operators already on site, flexibility, and ability to adapt to complex contexts.

Furthermore, all expat staff is required to adhere to VIS Accountability and Policy documents, including the Policy on the protection of girls, boys and adolescents and the Policy for the prevention and contrast of harassment, abuse, and other conduct harmful to the integrity and dignity of people.

Operators are guaranteed on-site accompaniment, ongoing and final assessment and a skills training and development system, with a view to retaining the human resources who collaborate with the VIS and proposing a professional growth path.

With reference to the remuneration, VIS adhered to the Framework Agreement stipulated by AOI and Link 2007 with the national trade union representative. In addition to the salary, VIS offers, if available, accommodation in guest houses for expat staff and guarantees the insurance coverage.

Consult ants carry out short-term missions to provide technical backstopping for the implementation of the projects.

Recruitment and selection

Policy and praxis of staff recruitment and selection is aimed at involving the largest number of candidates with suitable and adequate profiles, skills, and competences with respect to the profile sought. With same skills and capabilities, VIS favours the inclusion of staff that has already collaborated or is collaborating in the field, with the view to retaining operators. The selection process is based equity, transparency, efficacy, and non-discrimination criteria.
